On 1 November 2021, at 14.00 hrs., at Reception Room 202, 2nd Floor, the Parliament Building (Senate Wing), Professor Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the Senate, attended a Virtual Meeting with Mr. Wang Yang, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). The meeting was also attended by Mrs. Pikulkeaw Krairiksh, Chairwoman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs,
Mr. Kannop Thanapakpawin, Secretary of the Committee on Energy, Mr. Suwan Lertpunyaroj, Deputy Secretary of the Committee on Transportation, and Miss Napaporn Jaisajja, Secretary-General of the Senate.
 
 
During the meeting, the President of the Senate reassured close and inclusive strategic partnership and Thailand-China relations based on confidence, respect and mutual benefit. He also expressed his congratulations on the 46th anniversary of diplomatic relations as well as reiterated the needs of closer cooperation in order to respond to international challenges including the impact from COVID-19 pandemic. Once again, the President of the Senate reaffirmed his readiness to accelerate restoration of dynamic exchanges and activities between Thailand and China.
 
 
The Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) asserted the readiness to restore social and economic cooperation between the two countries and the region from the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and agreed to accelerate cooperation on various projects such as facilitation of trade and investment, cooperation on science, technology and innovation, promotion of Thailand-China high-speed railway connection, development of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), High-Speed Rail Linking Three Airports Project and Smart City which will support Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and serve as models for regional cooperation.
 
In addition, both sides exchanged views on regional and international issues based on mutual interests as well as reaffirmed their commitment in cooperation in sub-regional, regional and international frameworks in order to create suitable environment to promote peace, prosperity and sustainable development in the future. They also praised the progress of ASEAN-China relations which marks 30th anniversary this year.
