President of the Senate Had a Bilateral Meeting with Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to Thailand
 
On Thursday 25 November 2021, Professor Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the Senate, had a bilateral meeting via telephone with H.E. Mr. Kim Je Bong, Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Thailand, at the President of the Senate’s Office, 10th Floor, the Parliament Building (Senate Wing)
 
During the meeting, Professor Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the Senate, congratulated the cordial and lasting relationship between Thailand and North Korea especially, close parliamentary relationship between the two countries. In addition, he expressed his warm concern and wished North Korea for a good management to improve the situation of Corona Virus 2019. The President of the Senate hoped that the two parliaments will be able to interact more after the pandemic. Moreover, he mentioned about the tension in the Korean Peninsula expressing support of Thailand to maintain peace and security in the Korean Peninsula by non-interference in the internal affairs of other states. However, the Thai Parliament encouraged the two countries to have negotiation which brings peace to the Korean Peninsula in the near future.
 
At the same time, H.E. Mr. Kim Je Bong, Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Thailand, expressed his appreciation to the President of the Senate on the letter on the occasion of the national day of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The ambassador reported it to the Supreme People's Assembly and told the President of the Senate that H.E. Kim Jong Un, Supreme Leader of North Korea, was highly appreciated to His Majesty the King of Thailand’s benevolence for His letter on the National Day. Due to the spread of Corona Virus 2019, the Embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Thailand, therefore, could not organize a celebration event for the National Day in Thailand. However, the joyous celebration was organized in Pyongyang. In the event, the Supreme Leader of North Korea delivered a speech to celebrate the National Day. His speech included national economic development, prevention measures for Corona Virus 2019 as well as the situation in the Korean Peninsula and the relationship between North Korea and South Korea. In addition, the ambassador exchanged his views that in order to ease the tension in the Korean Peninsula, higher level of sincerity and cooperation between the two countries were crucial to finally bring peace to the Peninsula.
 
In conclusion, both sides agreed to strengthen and build closer relationship especially, at the parliamentary level after the situation of the spread of Corona Virus 2019 has improved and also promote peace and security in the Korean Peninsula.
