On Tuesday 26 October 2021, at 10.00 hours, special reception room no. 204, 2nd floor, Parliament Building (Senate Wing), Prof. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the Senate, welcomed H.E. Mr. Han Zhiqiang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Thailand, on the occasion of assumption to duty in Thailand. Mrs. Pikulkaew Krairiksh, Chairwoman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Gen. Navin Damrigan, Chairman of the Thai-Chinese Parliamentarians’ Friendship Group, and Ms. Napaporn Jaisajja, Deputy Secretary-General of the Senate acting as the Secretary-General of the Senate, participated in this meeting.


The President of the Senate extended his congratulations to the Ambassador of China on the occasion of assumption to duty in Thailand. The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Thailand had important role to strengthen the relationship in every dimension between both countries, including coordinating and strengthening legislative relations to accomplish every objective. The President of the Senate also extended his congratulation to China on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party that was the pillar of the country in handling different obstacles domestically and internationally. In regard to diplomatic relations, the year 2021 marks the 46th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. In addition, Thailand and China had a cordial relationship and had been trading with one another for more than 700 years, as Chinese culture blended within the life style of the Thai people where both races had been familiar with one another as part of the family. In regard to legislative relations, both parliaments had exchanged visits with one another, and the Parliamentarians’ Friendship Groups from both parliaments helped further strengthen the relationship. After the COVID-19 pandemic lessening, the Senate would hasten to recover the exchange visits and other activities together to develop the relationship to be sustainable in the future. The President of the Senate believed that the Ambassador’s assumption to duty would enhance, develop and expand cooperation in every dimension. As well, the President of the Senate extended his sincere appreciation to the government of China for providing the vaccines and medical equipment to Thailand.


The Ambassador of China expressed his readiness to further promote and strengthen the cordial relationship between Thailand and China, where China would further help with the vaccines and medical equipment to the Government of Thailand to control the COVID-19 pandemic. China would also cooperate to strengthen the capabilities of public health where the Embassy was ready to fully cooperate and facilitate in coordinating with agencies and other sections, as well as expanding cooperation to cover many dimensions in the future in order to  develop the relationship for the benefits both countries.
