On Tuesday 20 October 2020, at 13.00 hrs., at Sookprapruet Building, Prof. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the Senate together with Mr. Supachai Somcharoen, Second Vice-President of the Senate, Mrs. Pikulkeaw Krairiksh, Chairwoman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Mr. Nut Phasuk, Secretary-General of the Senate, welcomed H.E. Mrs. Kjersti Rødsmoen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Thailand, for a courtesy call.


On this occasion, the President of the Senate and the Ambassador exchanged ideas regarding to strengthening the bilateral and multilateral relations between Thai and Norwegian Parliaments, the roles and duties of the Senate and the support to increase the numbers of female parliamentarians. Moreover, both sides also discussed on the restoration of tourism after the situation of COVID-19 pandemic becomes better which will also lead to the economic growth of both countries. 


In addition, the Ambassador mentioned about the visit of the Parliamentary Committee on European Free Trade Association (EFTA) to Thailand in November 2020 which has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, there will be a consideration to arrange a virtual meeting as soon as possible and later the committee will visit Thailand after the COVID-19 pandemic situation becomes better. Furthermore, the President of the Senate emphasized to actively support the cordial relationship between Thai and Norwegian Parliaments as well as cooperation in all levels for the mutual benefits of the people in both countries.
