On Friday 28 August 2020, at 11.00 hrs. at the Reception Room on 25th Floor, Sookprapruet Building, Prof. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the Senate, welcomed H.E. Mr. Nguyen Hai Bang, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Thailand. The purpose of the courtesy call was to bid farewell on completion of his duty in Thailand. In this regard, Mrs. Pikulkeaw Krairiksh, Chairwoman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs joined the event.
The President of the Senate expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for great support and promotion of the relations between Vietnam and Thailand in all aspects. He also congratulated to the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for serving as the ASEAN Chairmanship and 41st ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Chairmanship in 2020, even though the globe is confronting the COVID-19, resulting the engagement of holding the virtual meetings.
Vietnam and Thailand have had close parliamentary bilateral relations. Both countries have regularly exchanged of visits. Recently, H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, President of the National Assembly of Vietnam met and discussed with the President of the Senate during the visit in Thailand to attend 40th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) on Tuesday 27 August 2019. Furthermore, the National Assembly of Thailand and the National Assembly of Vietnam also support each other in the Inter-Parliamentary meetings such as the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador expressed an appreciation to the President of the Senate for the reception and reassured that Vietnam will continue to support and promote parliamentary relations between both countries.
