On Wednesday 18 March 2020, at 10.00 hours, Reception Room, 25th Floor, Sookprapruet Building, the President of the Senate welcomed H.E. Mr. Lee Wook-heon, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand on the occasion of his assumption to the office with Mrs. Pikulkeaw Krairiksh, Chairwoman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Adm. Itthikomn Bhamarasuta, President of the Thailand-Korea Parliamentarian’s Friendship Group, Mr. Thanee Suchodayon and Assoc. Prof. Prasert Pinpathomrat, Members of the Executive Committee of the Thailand-Korea Parliamentarians’ Friendship Group and
Mr. Nut Phasuk, Secretary-General of the Senate.

 

On this occasion, President of the Senate mentioned good relations between Thailand and the Republic of Korea for 62 years, especially a good level of legislative relations. In addition, the parliament of the two countries has already set up their Parliamentarians’ Friendship Group. Parliamentarians of both countries have worked closely and supported each other in international parliamentary meetings such as Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

 

Both sides agreed to support and strengthen relations of both countries in all dimensions which especially focus on trade, investment, tourism and development of smart cities including linking the New Southern Policy (NSP) of the Republic of Korea and Thailand 4.0 policy. Furthermore, the President of the Senate and Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand also exchanged opinions on solutions to Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. They were pleased to cooperate closely for overcoming difficulties at this moment.
