Wednesday 18 December 2019, at 14.00 hrs., Reception Room, 25th Floor, Sookprapruet Building, Professor Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the Senate welcomed H.E. Mr. Kim Je Bong, Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to Thailand for a courtesy call on the occasion of his assumption to the office and to strengthen the relationship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The courtesy call was also attended by Mr. Supachai Somcharoen, Second Vice-President of the Senate, Adm. Noppadol Chokrada, Vice President of the Thailand-DPR Korea Parliamentarians Friendship Group, Gen. Thongchai Sarasuk, Executive Committee of Thailand-DPR Korea Parliamentarians Friendship Group and Mr. Nut Phasuk, Secretary-General of the Senate.

 

The President of the Senate complimented on the long lasting relationship between Thailand and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea which has been established for 44 years and advancement of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in various matters namely education, science and technology. Moreover, the Senate of Thailand is determined to strengthen cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The Thai Parliament has established Thailand-DPR Korea Parliamentarians Friendship Group in order to serve as a mechanism to strengthen better legislative cooperation. On this occasion, the President of the Senate wished the ambassador success in promoting the relationship between the two countries.

 

H.E. Mr. Kim Je Bong, Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, expressed his appreciation to the President of the Senate for the warm welcome. Thailand and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have exchanged visits between the royal families and government. He also expected more exchange of visits between the legislative organs especially the parliamentarians friendship groups of both countries in the future.
