On Monday 11 November 2019 at 10.15 hours, Reception Room, 4th Floor, the Parliament Building, Kiakkai, the President of the Senate welcomed H.E. Mr. Joseph Anthony Cotter, Ambassador of Ireland to Thailand on the occasion of his assumption to the office.The courtesy call was also attended by Mr. Supachai Somcharoen, Second Vice-President of the Senate and Mrs. Pikulkeaw Krairiksh, Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

 

On this occasion, the President of the Senate addressed the cordial relationship between Thailand and Ireland which has long been established for 44 years. The relationship and cooperation between the two countries have been deliberately fostered with the official visit to Ireland by H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in 2014. In addition, both countries enjoy the legislative relations as members of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Thailand is ready to support activities of the Embassy of Ireland to be held in the future.

 

In this respect, the two countries discussed on cooperation in trade and investment, education and tourism as well as emphasized cooperation to support and promote stronger relations in such matters.
