On Tuesday 27 August 2019, 16.00 hours, at Valley II Room, 1st floor, Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, the President of the Senate, together with Gen. Singsuk Singpai and Mr. Supachai Somcharoen, First and Second Vice-Presidents of the Senate respectively, Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Mrs. Kanchanaratt Leevirojana and Mr. Anusart Suwanmongkol, Senators, and Mr. Nut Phasuk, Secretary-General of the Senate, welcomed Mrs. Elin Rodum Agdestein, Leader of Delegation of the Kingdom of Norway, on the occasion of visit Thailand and being a guest country invited to attend the 40th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

 

On this occasion, the President of the Senate mentioned to the good relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Norway that have been maintained for a long time, especially the cordial relationship between the two royal families. The President also appreciated the Kingdom of Norway as the model of strong and internationally acceptable democratic regime, as well as its good welfare system. Thailand is ready to study these beneficial concepts from Norway in order to properly apply to the Thai society.

 

In this regard, both parties agreed to support and to promote closer relations in all aspects. The Kingdom of Norway requested to attend the General Assembly of AIPA as an observer. Therefore, Norwegian party believed that this would be a good opportunity to develop cooperation with Thailand in more various aspects.
