On Tuesday 27 August 2019, 10.00 hours, at Meeting Room No. 403, 4th Floor, Parliament Building, Kiakkai, Prof. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the Senate, together with Mr. Supachai Somcharoen, Second Vice-President of the Senate, Mr. Sakchai Tanaboonchai, General Pissanu Puttawong, General Surapong Suwana-Adth and Mrs. Penpuck Srithong, Members of the Executive Committee of Thailand-Vietnam Parliamentarians Friendship Group and Mr. Nut Phasuk, Secretary General of the Senate, had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Chairwoman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and delegation who visited Thailand as a guest of the Thai National Assembly during the 40th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

 

Both parties commended the cordial relationship between each other that is long-lasting and cooperation that have been developing continuously through exchanges of all levels. These cooperations that deal with security, trade, investment, culture and education and also the people-to-people relationship will strengthen Thailand-Vietnam relations, which will lead to a strategic partnership.

 

The President of the Senate extended his appreciation to the Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam whom led the delegation to attend the 40th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, congratulated Vietnam who will be the President of ASEAN and AIPA in 2020 and hoped Vietnam to be successful in every aspect. On the other hand, the Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam encourages the Parliamentarians Friendship Group to have activities and invites the President of the Senate to lead a delegation for an official visit to Vietnam in order to strengthen the relationship and expand legislative cooperation between both parliaments.
