On Saturday, 22 June 2019, 17.50 hrs. at Pinnacle 6 Roam, 4th Floor, InterContinental Hotel, Bangkok, Prof. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the Senate welcomed H.E. Mr. Uong Chu Luu, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as Head of Delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the ASEAN Leaders' Interface with Representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) during the 34th ASEAN Summit for discussing the strengthening of relations and the promotion of bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. In addition, Gen. Singsuk Singpai, First Vice-President of the Senate, Mrs. Pikulkeaw Krairiksh, Senator and Mr. Nut Phasuk, Secretary-General of the Senate also attended this bilateral meeting.

 

On this occasion, the President of the Senate, congratulated Vietnam on assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020 and wished Vietnam success in all endeavors while the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam expressed appreciation to Thailand for supporting Vietnam in the election of non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in the proportion of the Asia-Pacific Group. Both parties affirmed to strengthen a strategic partnership to each other and enhance the cooperation in various fields, namely legislature, military and security, economy, trade, investment, labour and tourism for mutual benefits of both countries and ASEAN Community.
