On Monday 18 March 2019, at 14.30 hrs., at Reception Room, 6th floor, King Prajadhipok Museum, Mr. Surachai Liengboonlertchai, First Vice-President of the National Legislative Assembly, welcomed Ms. Evelyn Murphy, Technical Officer of the World Heath Organization Headquaters in Geneva, who paid a courtesy call to discuss on the Global Network of Road Safety Legislators as well as the establishment of the Regional Network of Road Safety Legislators. In this regard, on Tuesday 19 March 2019, at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, there would be a Planning Meeting on Formation of a Regional Network of Road Safety Legislators co-hosted by the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand and the World Health Organization. Ms. Evelyn Murphy gave him the documents related to the meeting comprising a list of participants, the agenda as well as the objectives of the meeting.

 

On this occasion, the First Vice-President of the National Legislative Assembly expressed gratitude to the World Health Organization for giving importance and supporting consistently Thailand’s work implementation. Moreover, he affirmed that the Planning Meeting on Formation of a Regional Network of Road Safety Legislators on Tuesday 19 March 2019 would be a good opportunity that Members of Parliaments from ASEAN Member States gathered to have a discussion on the composition of the operational plan and other issues regarding the formation of the Regional Network for Road Safety.

 

In this respect, Ms. Evelyn Murphy also commended the First Vice-President of the National Legislative Assembly for his leadership that he had demonstrated by realizing the significance and wholeheartedly putting in his best effort to rapidly arrange the Planning Meeting on Formation of a Regional Network of Road Safety Legislators within May 2019. Consequently, WHO was very pleased to acknowledge the progress of this matter.
